Coping

Coping was written primarily due to the distinct impression so many professed Christians made on me concerning their attitude toward the Bible, namely, their implicit rejection of the value of the Bible in helping them with their emotional-mental-spiritual problems.

This book is based on two premises. The first is that the Bible is inspired of God and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and instruction that the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). The second is that God has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through a knowledge of His Son (2 Peter 1:3).

It is not a “self-help” book, because I do not believe the answer is in us just waiting to be discovered upon further reflection or dialogue. The answers are with God. That is why God provides us with His written word.

Self-help books tell us what has pragmatically helped some…sometimes. This book begins with the word of God as the divine standard and strives to move the reader to accept certain basic truths to effectively cope with the problems or challenges life throws our way.

Watch for additional manuscripts on this page. They are appendices to be added to the book: one on “Anger” and the other on “Anxiety.”
